This programme aims to promote inclusive practice in the education system and more broadly, using community learning approaches to improve outcomes for young people, families and adults in their areas. It is linked to a number of legislative duties on local authorities and practitioners across sectors, related to the Children and Young People Act, Additional Support for Learning Act, Equalities duties, GIRFEC policy and Safeguarding. It also includes issues such as preventing young people becoming involved in violent extremism. Further, it includes work to promote the development of positive and supportive learning environments which embrace equality and diversity, promotion of the Children's Rights agenda and the promotion of social and emotional wellbeing. It incorporates our contribution to the work flowing from the Ministerial working group on behaviour in schools and it also includes offender learning programmes with the Scottish Prisons Services, including our targeted programme of joint work with them at Polmont Young Offenders Institute. It also includes our contribution to supporting the integration of refugees and asylum seekers.
